BACKPACKING 101
Location: Township10 Residency, Marshall, North Carolina

This workshop is an introduction to exploring deep into the wilderness on your own two feet with everything you need on your back– and in your head. A skill building workshop at Township10 will cover topics like gear and where to find it, what to eat and how to cook it, how to treat water, hygiene, first aid, and everyone’s favorite: wildlife encounters.

All participants must be vaccinated and masked.

PRACTICE OVERNIGHT ON THE AT (optional)
Location: Spivey Gap to Big Bald, Appalachian Trail
Date: September 11-12, 2021
​
We will head out as a group to a section of the AT to practice our skills together as a community in the woods. This is a great opportunity to get your hands and feet dirty, ask lots of questions, and have fun with others who enjoy being outside! We will be hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail to Big Bald, one of the higher points in the area with 360 degree views of the surrounding hills.
